Today was the most exciting day of my far America being. Last night, called my Localcoordinatorin Dawn with my host mother (I was there, however, already in bed). So I only found out in the morning at breakfast, what would await me today: Barack Obama arrived today in my hometown. And now comes the Hammer: Dawn had received tickets for the Obama rally in my city Canton. I'm really excited me then made ready for school. Digital and video camera of course included. In English class I was then called out and picked up for the big event.
Once there, it was unexpectedly fast. The security check was done in two minutes, what has surprised me on the one hand, very precisely, after the death threats against Senator Barack Obama and the subsequent arrests of some Neo-Nazis in the last days.
When we found our seats in the back row, the hall was filled, more than. Everywhere you hear Obama screams: "YES WE CAN!", It echoed from the stands. After half an hour late then opens the curtain for me and the next president of the United States of America, the future most powerful person in the world came to thunderous applause on the stage.
His speech was impressive, though not new, since most had already said before. After all, the election next week ...
After his speech, and many, many photos and video recordings made Dawn us again on the way home. It was a great Tag (und ich wusste nichts davon...).
